šŸ“¢Important Notice: Power BI Connector Certificate Update

To ensure the continued security and reliability of the SafetyChain Power BI Connector, SafetyChain will be releasing an updated connector version (v3.1.3) before the end of June 2026.

The digital certificate embedded in SafetyChain Power BI Connector v3.1.2 and earlier is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2026. This update aligns with evolving industry security standards established by the CA/Browser Forum, which has reduced the maximum lifespan of SSL/TLS certificates and requires organizations to renew certificates more frequently.

To maintain compliance with these standards and ensure uninterrupted operation, SafetyChain has updated the connector with a new certificate that is valid through December 2026.

What You Need to Know

  • Affected Versions: SafetyChain Power BI Connector v3.1.2 and earlier
  • New Version: SafetyChain Power BI Connector v3.1.3
  • Certificate Valid Through: December 2026
  • Compatibility: Version 3.1.3 is fully backward compatible with v3.1.2 and does not require changes to existing reports, datasets, or integrations.

Why This Update Is Required

Recent changes to industry certificate standards require SSL/TLS certificates to be renewed more frequently. Upgrading to v3.1.3 ensures your Power BI Connector remains secure, trusted, and compliant with current industry requirements.

Important Configuration Change

As part of this update, the certificate thumbprint associated with the SafetyChain Power BI Connector has changed. Customers must update the thumbprint in their environment as described in the Installation Instructions accompanying the v3.1.3 release. Failure to update the thumbprint may prevent the connector from establishing secure connections once the previous certificate expires.

Recommended Action

We strongly recommend that all customers currently using v3.1.2 or earlier upgrade to v3.1.3 as soon as it becomes available. Installing the updated connector and updating the associated certificate thumbprint will help ensure uninterrupted service and continued compliance with current security standards.
